Apprenticeship at AERTiCKET AG

For many years, AERTiCKET AG has placed a great deal of attention on professional training in the area of travel, thus securing its need for qualified junior staff. In addition to the original training content, we offer a large  number of opportunities to obtain additional qualifications: our trainees can participate in demanding projects and gain an insight into all areas of our company.

Additional in-company training has been a matter of course in our company for years. Our trainees are excellently prepared for the final examination organized by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as well as for their future professional career. We also promote a combination of on-the-job training and studying at a university in different fields, by granting financial support and by offering the students the chance to work at our company as a working student.

On average, eight young people start their professional training every year in our company. In 2009, five of our trainnees were offered a permanent position in our company. We consider our high training quota of 16% as our contribution to socio-political responsibility.

How was it?

Our former trainee, Björn Blankenhagen, has described his training at AERTiCKET AG as follows:

Even during the first few months of training, AERTiCKET AG’s trainees can gradually advance in their areas of responsibility and are given the chance to work all but independently in certain areas. Apart from the knowledge gained in one’s daily work, such as IATA basics, regular training in CRS, ticketing and tariffs also plays a major role. Moreover, considering that none of the trainees has ever failed his/her final examination it can be said that the annual workshop in preparation for the Chamber of Commerce examination is a success story.

In view of the fact that the rotation principle applies in vocational training, each trainee moves department on a quarterly basis, whereby any special interests that a trainee may have are taken into account. For example, in order for me to ease into my role as a full-time employee on completion of my training, I was able to work in sales support during the entire last six months of training. As our company puts great emphasis on constantly improving the quality of training measures on one hand, and on improving the skills of the trainees on the other, there are regular feedback talks.

Regular trainee and private meetings are designed to strengthen the team spirit among trainees. As the company’s canteen is open to trainees free of charge, we can also have regular exchanges there. The fact that the company offers an Intranet service for trainees called „AERzubi“ proves that
trainees are regarded just as highly as any full-time employee.

Björn Blankenhagen completed his training as travel management assistant  at AERTiCKET AG in January 2009 and has since been working at the Berlin sales support division.
